Sebastian Leitner's original 1972 system used 5 physical boxes. Modern digital adaptations typically split the longer-interval boxes for finer granularity — 7 is the most-cited variant, matching a roughly doubling schedule (2 → 3 → 7 → 15 → 31 → 61 days). Our schedule lands on ~120 days to Mastered for perfect play, matching published canonical figures.

Every correct answer moves the card up one box. From Box 1 (today) to Box 2 (2 days) to Box 3 (3 days), and so on. Answer Box 7 correctly after its 61-day wait and the card graduates to Mastered — you won't see it again unless you manually reset it. A wrong answer at any level sends the card straight back to Box 1.

Yes. The entire app runs from your device. You can study, add cards, import CSVs, and track progress without a network. Cloud sync is strictly additive — it mirrors your local data; it never replaces it.

No. You can use LeitnerBox for free forever without creating an account. Sign-in is only required if you want cloud sync across multiple devices.

Export your Anki deck as CSV (or use our open-source .apkg converter on GitHub, shipping near launch) and use Import from File in LeitnerBox. Your levels don't carry over — every imported card starts at Box 1.

Four features that don't exist in the free tier: unlimited devices for cloud sync, AI card generation from any text or URL, leech detection plus retention analytics, and 30-day backup history. The core review flow stays free forever.

Open iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → LeitnerBox → Cancel. Your Pro access remains until the end of the current billing period. If you bought Lifetime, there's nothing to cancel — it's yours.

Settings → Data → Export all as CSV. This works in every version of LeitnerBox, free or paid.

Settings → Account → Delete Account. We wipe everything within 7 days (backup retention window). You can also email [email protected] to request deletion.
